Why a Banarasi box
Most Diwali sweet boxes sold online hold the same five things: kaju katli, soan papdi, motichoor laddoo, a dry fruit barfi and something wrapped in chocolate. They are fine. They are also what everyone else on the street has sent.
A box from Varanasi carries sweets the rest of the country rarely gets to taste. Lal Peda is khoya cooked slowly until it turns red-brown on its own. Launglata is a khoya parcel sealed with a clove. Our Besan Laddoo is the coarse, dark-roasted kind associated with Kashi.
Every sweet is made by hand by our halwais in small batches, in pure desi ghee, with no artificial preservatives, and packed fresh for dispatch.

It depends on the sweet. Milk-based sweets are best eaten sooner, while many dry and ghee-based sweets travel for longer. Each pack carries its own best-before date.
